I’m Josh Nichols, and I have a music degree in Organ Performance from Belhaven University. My journey is quite windy and bumpy, so I’ll spare you the details and give you the TL;DR.
I’ve always been musical since a kid. Played piano early, but learned by ear and not by sight. Rachmaninoff converted me; I started my real musical training in the later years of High School.
I went to a major public university (with over 40,000 students) in a piano studio totaling about 50. I learned a lot of things, but how to practice was not one of them. I gained a true appreciation for good music, good composition, and good aesthetics.
While many things can be attributed to why I left this major university to a tiny university in the middle of the deep south and left piano, the short-end of it is that I knew it needed to be so. I have quite an eclectic musical background and knowledge, but it is that compendium that makes me who I am today.
I am available to do many things:
- Typeset music (personal or public domain)
- Teach lessons
- Compose music of varying kinds
- Play concerts and church services
